How to make stickers from home

How to make stickers from home

When I first started my stationery shop, Jem and Cozy, I printed and cut all my stickers from my home office using a printer and a Cricut cutting machine.

Thanks to laminate sheets and the Cricut cutting machine, I was able to make my stickers water resistant and more durable for water bottles and laptops. Vinyl sticker paper and laminate are both available in sheets, which made the process of making small batches of stickers from home easier. Making stickers from home is convenient and possibly more cost effective if you want to experiment with many different designs at once.

Here are all the supplies you need to get started:

1. Art/images you would like to turn into stickers. I paint my designs and draw illustrations digitally on the app Procreate on my Ipad. Since I sell my stickers, I only use designs that I have drawn myself.

2. Printer

3. Cutting Machine if you want accurate and consistent cuts. The Cricut and Silhouette are the most popular ones I have heard of, but you can use other brands or hand cut the sticker sheets.

4. Laminate sheets. If you would like some added durability to your vinyl stickers, I highly recommend laminating them before cutting them. If you are making stickers for paper products that will not some in touch with water (such as journaling), you may not need the laminate.

5. Computer or Ipad that can connect to your printer and use the cutting machine's app. I use Cricut design space, which is free with my Cricut. I prefer using the app on a desktop since the printer settings are easier to see and adjust.

6. Tools such as scissors, a roller to apply laminate, cutting mat, and other weeding tools may help facilitate the sticker making process.

Here is my supply list on Amazon which includes all the equipment and tools I prefer to make stickers from home.

Here is a tutorial on how to set up your Cricut and printer to make water resistant stickers from home.

 Good Luck!
